What's Happening
at Hamlet Downs
We have built a new orchard with 10 fruit trees including apples, pears, apricot, nectarine, cherries and plums. These are contained in a new enclosure which will hopefully protect them from birds, possums and wallabies. Also contained in the enclosure are a new strawberry patch, blueberry bushes and asparagus. So we look forward to providing guests with fresh produce in the years to come.
A new bed of Australian natives has been established which contains plants, parts of which may be consumed. It includes native pepper berries, strawberry pine, grasses, mint bush, mountain berries etc.
A new centre for adventure activities has been developed just 20 minutes from Hamlet Downs at Maydena.
"The centrepiece of the hub is the Eagles Eyrie lookout perched high above
the Maydena township, overlooking the Styx, Florentine and Gordon forests – the
ideal place to pause either during or after a day of activity in the surrounding
valleys.
Please see the Forestry Tasmania web site for details. Some activities may not operate all year.
